Dailyfilm.tv, the filmmaker’s viral video site, today launched the Video DSLR Short Film Contest sponsored by Redrock Micro with over $10K in prizes. Filmmakers are challenged to use a video DSLR camera (such as the Nikon D90, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II or the Panasonic DMC-GH1) to create a narrative short, documentary, or music video. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in each of the categories. The online contest is currently open, and the deadline for entries is Sept. 18. The panel of expert judges includes photographer/filmmakers Vincent Laforet and Michael Grecco as well as cinematographer Rodney Charters from the Fox television series 24.
First-place winners will win the Redrock Micro eyeSpy Deluxe Bundle DSLR rig (retail value $1445). Second-place winners will get the Redrock Micro Captain Stubling rig ($975). Third-place finishers will receive either a Redrock Micro microMatteBox Deluxe ($735) or microFollowFocus v2 Indie Bundle ($675).
In addition, weekly prizes of Redrock Micro accessories will be awarded, including microMounts 3-packs ($110), microLensSupports ($105) and pairs of 18-inch 15mm professional-grade iris rods ($105).
